Trucking Alliance Invites Swift Transportation

Washington, D.C.
Swift Transportation has accepted an invitation to join the Alliance for Driver Safety & Security, also known as the Trucking Alliance. Swift Transportation is the 4th largest US trucking company and the nation’s largest full truckload freight carrier, according to Commercial Carrier Journal. The company is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.

“The Trucking Alliance is advancing safety reforms that we support,” said Richard Stocking, Swift’s president and CEO, “and we believe the Alliance’s operating principles are setting a new safety standard for our industry.”

“Swift Transportation is the largest full truckload carrier in the United States and its leadership team is one of the best in the business,” said Steve Williams, chairman and CEO of Maverick USA and Trucking Alliance president, “and so it’s gratifying that Swift will be part of the Trucking Alliance going forward, as we work to lower the number of truck accidents and improve highway safety, for our drivers and the general public.”

Williams said that Stocking will join the Alliance board of directors and David Berry, vice president, will join the Alliance’s Advisory Group, which analyzes legislative and regulatory proposals and assists with the organization’s advocacy efforts.

With the addition of Swift Transportation, Trucking Alliance companies now collectively employ 68,000 professional drivers, management and logistics personnel who are utilizing 52,000 trucks and 175,000 semitrailers and containers to deliver products throughout North America.
